Picture shows a girl relaxing on a punt on the River Cam in Cambridge.It was announced today that new safety measures are to be put in place and people will no longer be able to put their feet over the side of the boat. PUNT chauffeurs on the River Cam in Cambridge must now give passengers an airline style SAFETY briefing - even though the punts travel at just TWO MILES an hour. Tourists are complaining that new stringent "over-the-top" punting guidelines have "ruined" the relaxing pastime and become a "health and safety" nightmare. Under the new code of practice, approved by the Conservators of the River Cam today (Tues), visitors can no longer lounge in a punt, but must keep their arms and legs inside at all times. They are not allowed to listen to loud music whilst punting and must be at least 14 before taking control of the vessel. Five big health and safety stickers will also be placed in punts to make sure people keep to the right of the river and do not overcrowd the boats. Olympic cycling star Victoria Pendleton hopes to complete her Switching Saddles challenge tomorrow (Fri) by competing at the Cheltenham Festival - just 12 months after her first riding lesson. Pendleton, who is Britain's most successful female Olympian, is racing in the St James's Place Foxhunter Chase on her horse Pacha Du Polder at the famous festival. The 35-year-old was enticed out of retirement for the challenge, with the aim of transforming from a complete novice to riding at the world's most prestigious jumps racing fixture in just a year. She has been sponsored by betting exchange Betfair and hopes that tomorrow she will be able to show just how much she has achieved in the past 12 months as she competes against 19 other riders on the three-mile course. The former cyclist has taken several tumbles at races over the past few months, falling at her first hunter chase at Fakenham in Norfolk and also at Barbury Castle in Marlborough.

Around 20,000 Take That fans packed into the O2 arena last night (Sat) as the trio played their third night at the London venue. The boys belted out many of their old hits as well as songs from their new album Take That III. It is four years since Take That's last tour, Progress Live, and this time the band is playing more than 50 dates around Europe, supported by Ella Henderson. They will play further dates in London, Manchester, Birmingham and Newcastle, before heading to the continent. It is the first tour for the band as a trio, after Jason Orange left last year.

Extraordinary pictures have been revealed showing the caring side of Prince William as he went above and beyond the call of duty at work, comforting a patient and even travelling with him in the ambulance. Photos show the Duke of Cambridge reassuring and comforting a patient after flying him to hospital in the air ambulance yesterday afternoon (Tues). As co-pilot William is usually seen waiting in the helicopter cock-pit while his colleagues carry out the medical tasks. Pic shows the juvenile swan nicknamed Asbaby on the River Cam in Cambridge over the Easter period.The swan is even more vicious than his father (Asboy) and grand father (Asbo) and has been seen pecking at the punters as they go by. The young GRANDSON of vicious swan Mr Asbo is following in his grandfather's footsteps after terrorising punters on the River Cam over the busy Easter bank holiday weekend. The fledgling fiend, who has been nickhamed Asbaby, has been pecking petrified punters on the famous Backs in the university city. The savage swan, who has still got many of his brown baby feathers, is believed to be even more vicious than his grandfather Mr Asbo, who was moved to a secret location by the river authorities two years ago after he repeatedly attacked rowers. Asbaby was seen over the weekend attacking tourists as they punted, stealing sandwiches from picnic hampers and flying at families on the waterway. The bird is believed to have inherited his bad temper from his grandfather, as well as his dad Asboy, who conducted a reign of terror on the river last summer. U2 were joined by Patti Smith during their concert at London's O2 Arena on Thursday night (October 29). The Irish band are currently enjoying a six-night residency at the London venue, having started last Sunday and performed with Noel Gallagher on Monday. At Thursday's show, Patti Smith was invited onstage to perform U2's 1981 song 'Gloria' as well as Smith's own 'People Have The Power’. Noel Gallagher recently described teaming up with U2 at one of their London gigs earlier this week as a "dream come true". The former Oasis guitarist joined the band onstage during the band's O2 Arena show on October 26, performing their hit 'I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For' before segueing into a cover of The Beatles' 'All You Need Is Love’. U2 are playing 20 cities in the Europe and North America Innocence and Experience Tour, which finishes in November. They started the England leg last Sunday and will play three more nights at the O2 before continuing to Glasgow, Belfast and Dublin. The tour follows the recent release of its thirteenth studio album, Songs of Innocence.

After starring in the BBC's new raunchy adaptation of Lady Chatterley's Lover last night (Sun), heart throb James Norton was back filming today (Mon) as the vicar in the new series of Grantchester. The 30-year-old, who played Lord Chatterley in a wheelchair in last night's programme, looked pleased to be back in his role as Sidney Chambers in the ITV detective series. He was seen walking along the picturesque Backs in the city of Cambridge as he chatted to actor Robson Green, who plays Detective Inspector Geordie Keating. At one point the pair were seen drinking coffee inbetween takes and waving to fans on the riverside. The River Cam, which runs behind the historic Cambridge University colleges, was transformed to look like the 1950's, with punt loads of people in costume. Norton, who studied theology at Cambridge University and knows the city well, looked happy and relaxed as he played the country vicar, who helps fight crime in his small community. A Cambridge Master has warned his students that they will become "insider traders, exchange rate riggers and corrupt Volkswagen engineers" if they don't sort themselves out with their drinking and bullying habits. A Cambridge University master has warned his "bullying" drunk students they could turn into "insider traders, exchange rate riggers and corrupt Volkswagen engineers" if they don't sort themselves out. Professor Sir Alan Fersht, 72, has sent an email to all students at prestigious Gonville and Caius condemning second years who "pressured" freshers into drinking "shots of liquor until they vomited." His email late yesterday afternoon (Fri) came after he claimed students at the annual Freshers Week pub crawl were caught on CCTV encouraging first years to drink shots as part of an initiation ceremony. He said freshers, "including women" were then made to drink more as further "forfeits" under the masquerade of a "Tour of the Town." Professsor Fersht said incapacitated students were left "dumped" on other students' floors without any regard to the consequences that they could have inhaled vomit and died. He likened the second years' behaviour to "bullying" and said he feared they would leave the college and become "unethical pariahs like insider traders, exchange rate riggers and corrupt Volkswagen engineers." Members of the Royal Family have attended the Christmas Day service at church on the Sandringham estate. Led by the Queen, who arrived in a Bentley, the royals made their way from Sandringham House to St Mary Magdalene Church for the traditional service. The other members of the family made the short journey on foot. Hundreds of well-wishers had gathered in the rain to catch a glimpse of the monarch and other senior members of the Royal Family. The Queen, who arrived in Norfolk by train last week, wore a red coat and hat with fur trim, and held a matching umbrella. She returned to Sandringham House by car after the service, but Prince Harry was among those who stopped to speak to members of the public.

Prince William's new luxury office features a PLAYSTATION so he can relax between missions, it has been revealed today (Mon). His new quarter of a million-pound office at the East Anglian Air Ambulance base is also stocked with other home comforts including 55 inch televisions with sound bars, a cappuccino machine and large larder fridge. The Duke of Cambridge and his colleagues have just moved into the purpose-built two-storey building, which also boasts a state-of-the-art toaster, microwave oven and cooker. It is a far cry from their previous base - a room at the back of the main Cambridge airport building, which staff described as "cosy" - and where the crew were not even allowed to make toast due to safety concerns. The new building, which is on the same site, features training rooms and two bedrooms with bunkbeds, allowing crew to sleep over after late shifts. Photos of the interior show the training rooms have large 55 inch televisions, a water cooler and even a Playstation, whilst the two bedrooms each contain two bunk beds.
