As press photographers we all know that pictures are a far better story telling medium than the written word. You just have to look at the work in ‘Assignments: The BPPA Exhibition’ to see that.
But sometimes, no matter how great the picture, it is interesting to hear the story behind the picture too. Not only the stories that make the papers, but also the stories behind individual pictures, and the tales that photographers have to tell about their work.
So, with this in mind, the BPPA is pleased to announce the launch of “Assignments live” – a series of bi monthly events where we invite photographers who have taken outstanding press photos to come along and show their work and talk about the pictures.
For the first of these events we are thrilled to have two great but very different photographers;
Hannah McKay from Reuters will be showing and discussing the images she took on her recent assignment to photograph the Rohingya refugees in Bangladesh.
Dave Hogan will be presenting a selection of images from his charity exhibition – revisiting the highlights of thirty or so years photographing the famous.
It should be a really interesting night – and it’s completely free!
