Sunday 9th July 2023 Picture Credit Charlotte Graham Picture Shows Tall ships depart from Hartlepool on the second leg of the race to Norway The Tall Ships Races 2023 will see the international fleet of Tall Ships and Small Ships return to Den Helder, Hartlepool, Fredrikstad, Lerwick and Arendal from 29 June to 6 AugustÉ With four of the five Host Ports having already hosted the stunning Tall Ships fleet, we are excited to return to old friends and visit new frontiers for some exhilarating sailing, stunning cruises and celebrations across Northwest Europe. As with every edition of The Tall Ships Races, the series will offer a range of sailing experiences for trainees and crews. The Race Committee will look at waypoint options to provide shorter and longer races for the fleet that will require a mixture of tactical skill and exhilarating speed to conquer. The race series will not only offer trainees a range of Sail Training experiences, it will also provide a variety of attractive options for vessel operators and provide a strong base for trainee and crew recruitment

They are distinctively shaped with a long neck and long pointed beak, long pointed tail, and long pointed wings. At sea they flap and then glide low over the water, often travelling in small groups. They feed by flying high and circling before plunging into the sea. They breed in significant numbers at only a few localities in the UK and so is an Amber List species

Tuesday 18th May 2021.Picture Credit Charlotte Graham .Picture Shows: ..RHS Ambassador and popular TV gardener Carol Klein opens RHS Garden Bridgewater in Salford today.. .Four years in the making and a quarter of a million plants in the ground, the RHS’s fifth garden and first urban garden finally opens its gates to the public after a year delay due to the pandemic. The 154 acre site will bring world class horticulture within an hour’s reach of 8 million people.. .Carol, who grew up in the area, said; “I’m thrilled that RHS Garden Bridgewater is opening its gates today.. .“This garden represents not only the spirit of the RHS, but that of the North West, pioneering and looking to the future. It also reflects the spirit of the area and its two cities and shows what can be achieved when communities work together.. .“It’s an honour and a privilege to be Ambassador for RHS Garden Bridgewater.”. .Sue Biggs, RHS Director General, said; “We cannot say a bit enough thank you to the incredible people who live in and around Salford who have made the creation of this beautiful garden possible.”
