South & City College Birmingham welcoming The Duke of Cambridge to the newly refurbished Handsworth Campus as part of his visit to the City on Friday 29 November. The Duke will meet Mike Hopkins, Principal of the college and students who are studying at the Handsworth Campus on the Soho Road, and will hear about the improvements which have been made to the centre over the past 18months. The college has invested £3million in the Grade II listed building – which had previously not seen any renovations for over 20 years following a merger in August 2012. The renovations have been ongoing and stage two has just been completed – opening the front of the building to students and the public this month. The centre has become an important feature in the community, with many community groups and local businesses using the facilities such as the Community Hub – a suite of rooms which groups and businesses can use free of charge.Picture by Shaun Fellows / Shine Pix
