Simon is a professional photographer living in Nidderdale, North Yorkshire, specialising in editorial and news photography. He is an Honorary Fellow of the Royal Photographic Society and, in 2017, became the first British photographer to win the prestigious Longford International Art Portrait Award. The British Institute of Professional Photography named Simon as the Photographer of the Year 2019. His work has been published in numerous books by publishers including Dorling Kindersley, Oxford University Press, Simon & Schuster, Penguin and Heineman; in magazines including National Geographic Magazine, the Observer Magazine and the Sunday Times Magazine; and used by national broadcasters in the UK (BBC), Ireland (RTE), Denmark (DR), Germany (ZDF) and many online media channels. Simon’s fourth photographic book The 160th Great Yorkshire Show: A Photographer’s View, with a Foreword by HRH The Princess Royal and a Preface by The Duke of Devonshire, was published in November 2018. In 2020, Simon was elected President and Chair of Trustees of the Royal Photographic Society.
