FREE FIRST USE Pictures Paisley Provost Anne Hall was among thousands who turned out to see the Scottish town’s Hallowe’en parade on Friday night, with the festivities continuing on into Saturday. The town, which has declared its intent to bid for UK City of Culture 2021 (open to large towns as well as cities) pulled out all the stops to give revellers a night to remember. A lantern lit procession snaked through the town’s streets led by the Spark! LED drummers. They were joined by hundreds of young people from community groups, many of whom donned elaborate costumes made specially for the occasion. The fun continued with a fire garden and illuminations created by renowned outdoor art specialists Walk the Plank, centred around “spooky" Paisley Abbey. Paisley’s annual fireworks display on 5th November and Christmas lights switch-on - this year on 12th November - will also be full of surprises.
