Now in its second year, the National Youth Dance Company comes to the Clore Ballroom, Royal Festival Hall, London to perform a new double bill by pre-eminent choreographer Akram Khan: the world premiere of The Rashomon Effect, and a restaged excerpt from Khan’s critically acclaimed Vertical Road. The 2017 LinkedGolfers World Hickory Festival, Kilspindie Golf Club, Aberlady, East Lothian, Scotland. A field of international amateur and professional golfers teed-off today, Tuesday 3rd October at Kilspindie, Aberlady in the 13th LinkedGolfers World Hickory Festival. This year the event is being held over Scotland’s Golf Coast’s unique assembly of hickory-bespoke links featuring some of the world’s best layouts. Hickory Golf is played with original or pre-1936 replica hickory shafted clubs and yet skilful players such as last year’s winner and former Masters Champ Sandy Lyle are still able to hit their drives close to 300-yards yards and record scores of as little as 67, although this has only been achieved twice in the tournaments 12-year history. 28/09/2014. Rabia, Iraq. Two fighters belonging to the Syrian-Kurdish YPG react to incoming fire from Islamic State insurgents, as they wait for an order to return fire in the Iraqi border town of Rabia. Facing each other across the Iraq-Syria border, the towns of Al-Yarubiyah, Syria, and Rabia, Iraq, were taken by Islamic State insurgents in August 2014. Since then The town of Al-Yarubiyah and parts of Rabia have been re-taken by fighters from the Syrian Kurdish YPG. At present the situation in the towns is static, but with large exchanges of sniper and heavy machine gun fire as well as mortars and rocket propelled grenades, recently occasional close quarter fighting has taken place as either side tests the defences of the other.
